Military checkpoint in Belin attacked

The military checkpoint near the old Shwe Than Lwin toll gate at the entrance to Belin in Mon State was attacked on April 11, according to the locals.

Short-range rockets were fired at the checkpoint by the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and the PDF coalition, which is guarded by over 20 military and police personnel.

One police second lieutenant was hurt, and junta troops threatened the city with a shooting.



That checkpoint was attacked in March and in the first week of April, injuring at least four military personnel.

The KNLA joint forces has been conducting frequent attack on the regime checkpoints and convoys in Belin Township controlled by KNU Brigade 1 Thaton District.

Since the military coup, fighting between the military council and the KNLA has forced almost 1,000 residents of Belin Township to evacuate, with the majority of the refugees now returning to their homes.
