In post-coup Myanmar, the working class struggles for their livelihoods and enough meals, the ordinary people told Than Lwin Times.
The working class is distressed due to the high commodity prices, job scarcity, and the junta’s stringent restrictions in the coup-hit country.
Ordinary people have been forced to practice austerity due to the skyrocketing price of rice and basic foodstuffs, and subsequently are facing health problems because of malnutrition.
They have to rely on odd jobs for their families. With reduced wages, borrowing from others, some families struggle to have a meal a day.
Nowadays the working class has to survive by committing illegal acts due to the food crisis, according to a source who assists them.
On the other hand, ordinary people are unemployed in the country, and some are being arrested on a daily basis as they enter Thailand illegally to earn a living.
According to the World Food Program (WFP), the military coup has likely forced more than two million people in Myanmar to the brink of starvation this year.
