2 regime soldiers surrender to KNU with their weapons

The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Brigade 5 issued a statement saying two junta soldiers surrendered to KNLA Brigade 5 with their weapons in KNU-controlled Hpapon District.

The statement said that on July 6, a soldier from Light Infantry Battalion (341), surrendered with a rifle and ammunition boxes, and he deserted Nat Taung military base, which is located on the border of Karen and Karenni States.

Similarly, another soldier from Infantry Battalion (54) under Regional Operations Command (ROC-Loikaw) surrendered with two rifles and bullets on the 10th of July.

One soldier said he is against the military dictatorship and will continue to fight for the overthrow of the military regime in cooperation with the public.

After the coup, the number of soldiers from the KNU’s Hpapon District who surrendered to the 5th Brigade has reached more than 50, according to the report released by the KNU’s 5th Brigade.
