People with disabilities are having trouble with their families’ livelihoods and health issues as a result of the socio-economic crisis sparked by the military coup, the aid workers who assist the disabled said.
After the military’s seizure of power, people with disabilities were fired or laid off, and they also suffer from health issues and livelihood problems.
Apart from this, they face a loss of job opportunities and skyrocketing prices, while they no longer have access to health care.
“Employment opportunities are very important for livelihood and health. Jobs are scarce even for ordinary people, so it’s even getting worse for the disabled,” the aid worker said.
People with disabilities are facing more physical and mental health issues due to job scarcity.
The aid workers who assist the disabled have called for the public to support the disabled as much as possible.
On the other hand, after the military coup, people with disabilities lost almost all their rights and were not selected when applying for jobs.
According to the 2019 by-census, people with disabilities account for 12.8 percent of the population.
