Some charities stop operations in Tanintharyi

Tanintharyi, August (12)

During the one and a half years in the wake of the military coup, some charitable organizations found it difficult to continue, so they temporarily stopped their services, the officials of charities told Than Lwin Times.

Following the coup, social relief organizations temporarily halted their operations due to the skyrocketing price of fuel and fewer fund.

One of the largest social organizations in Dawei District, Zammuthri Group, which has been running for more than nine years, said on August 11 that it had temporarily suspended its free services due to fuel shortages and a lack of funding.

An official rescue team said that after the military coup, most of the charitable organizations are facing a general crisis, including fuel, and are having difficulty continuing to provide services.

On the other hand, they face difficulties in carrying out rescue work due to the strict rules of the military council.

According to the officials of the rescue teams, most of the charitable associations may stop their support programs in the near future.
