Department heads in Mon State under investigation for leaking secret directives

Mawlamyine, October (25)

The Than Lwin Times has learned that a special investigation committee of the Military Council summoned the heads of departments to examine the leaking of classified information and military secrets of Mon State.

The military council instructed the departmental officials in the administrative section about the military and civilian secret matters related to the current political issues and the procedures to be followed.

The military council alleged that almost all the information in the directive was leaked to the media and the joint forces of the PDF and the National Unity Government (NUG).

A departmental head, who did not want to be named, told the Than Lwin Times that the provincial military council held an emergency meeting, formed a special investigation committee, and conducted field inspections in various townships.

The Special Investigation Committee of the military council has threatened to take action under the State Secrets Act if the information is leaked.

This Special Investigation Committee is overseen by military captains and civilian director-level officials, and a total of roughly 10 members have been conducting field inspections in several townships over the last week.

Among those under investigation are the heads of the General Administration Department, the Police Force, the Ministry of Immigration and Population, the Ministry of Information, and the Justice Department.

The military council was repeatedly warned not to leak secret instructions, orders, and prohibitions to the outside world, but these secret instructions were leaked again, so they were later given over the phone or verbally.
