Mawlamyine, November (17)

Following the exchange of fire between the two sides in Zeyarthiri ward in Mawlamyine, the Military Council has tightened security and conducted searches in the city’s most residential area, according to the locals.

On November 14, a firefight erupted between the People’s Defense Force and regime forces at a house in Zayarthiri ward, injuring two soldiers and killing the ward administrator’s son.

According to sources close to the regime, security forces have been patrolling the city, ensuring security in key areas, and keeping an eye on the situation.

Furthermore, the military council is constantly monitoring the movements of city residents via CCTV and arresting and questioning those who are suspicious.

Residents said that the regime troops, in plain clothes, use civilian cars and motorcycles to roam around and monitor the neighborhoods.

On the other hand, the military council has tightened security at the city entrance gates and checks suspects as well as cars and motorcycles in key areas of the city.

The Mawlamyine-based Underground Task Force reported that five PDFs were arrested along with three arms in a firefight that took place in Mawlamyine.
