Three junta soldiers killed in eastern Dawei battle

The three military personnel died in a clash that broke out near Baematat Taung between Wakone and Thingantone villages in eastern Dawei, Tanintharyi, the People’s Defense Forces told Than Lwin Times.

The Kawthoolei Army and PDF joint forces ambushed a convoy of four vehicles carrying about 80 soldiers coming from Dawei around 9 am on November 19.

The exchange of fire lasted for more than an hour and a half, and three soldiers were reportedly killed in the firefight.

Having clashed with resistance forces, the military council prepared to attack again along with the infantry unit, so the PDF joint forces are monitoring the situation, said a PDF member in eastern Dawei.

Some local residents of Wakone Village and Thankantoon Village are now fleeing from the fighting.

After the military coup, fighting continues between the military regime and the PDF forces in the eastern Dawei, Tanintharyi Region.
