Education officer gunned down in Launglon Township

U Zaw Zaw Soe, the education officer, was shot near Pyinsathi Maw village and Pyingyi village in Launglon Township, Tanintharyi Region, the residents told Than Lwin Times.

The Township Education Officer, U Zaw Zaw Soe, who was riding a motorcycle from Launglon, was gunned down by two unknown gunmen who followed him on a motorcycle near the cemetery of Pyinsathi Maw village.

U Zaw Zaw Soe was shot with a gun, but escaped without being hit by a bullet.

After the township education officer was shot, a 40-strong military column entered Thabyar Kyae and Pyinsathi Maw villages, and on November 23, the residents said that they stormed Chaungtaw Wa village.

According to reports, the military council also confiscated phones, gold, cash, and jewelry from two homes in the Chaungtaw Wa hamlet.

No group has claimed responsibility for the shooting of the education chief, and the two public defense groups based in Launglon Township, PDF-Launglon and PDF-Dawei District (DDT) have both denied involvement.

The education officer of Launglon Township forced the CDM educational staff to return to work and urged the authorities to arrest them, but Than Lwin Times could not independently confirm this.
