Military convoy strikes landmine in Kyaikto

The military convoy hit the landmine on Yangon-Mawlamyine road near Ingabo village in Mon State’s Kyaikto Township on January 5, according to the KNU’s Alliance Supervisory Committee.

The combined force of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) attacked the four-vehicle military convoy heading to Kyaikto from Sittaung around 7 yesterday morning.

At least seven junta troops may have been killed in the attack, according to the KNU’s Alliance Supervisory Committee, which also caused damage to one of the military trucks.

According to reports, the military convoy that was hit by a mine had been on its way to reinforce the attack on KNU Brigade 5 or 6.

Following the incident, junta forces fired randomly into the neighborhood, injuring a local resident.

Military convoys were frequently attacked near Ingabo village in Kyaikto Township, causing damage to their vehicles and killing soldiers.
