Former Mon State minister’s car attacked in Mudon

The former local minister of military regime in Mon State was attacked by a remote-controlled mine as he came back to his home in Mudon Township, Mon State, on 15 January.

 U Win Naing Oo, who is the retired colonel and the former Minister for Security and Border Affairs of the military council, was attacked around 6:30 pm, said the local people to the Than Lwin Times.

“The attack happened in front of his house. He was not injured, but his car was partly damaged. Some locals were arrested after the attack,” said a local sources.

Junta forces conducted inspections and nine local persons were reportedly arrested.

The Mudon People Defence Force claimed that the attack on the former minister was as part of Operation  Nan Htike Aung because he is a local leader of pro-military Pyusawhti militias and the main supporter of junta.

The former minister contested Mudon Township’s State Constituency (1) representing the Union Solidarity and Development Party in 2020 General Election, but he was not elected to seat.
