In Mon State, there were 216 people arrested for violating the anti-terrorism law in 2022, said Colonel Kyaw Swar Myint, the junta’s Chief Minister of State Security and Border Affairs.
Colonel Kyaw Swar Myint presented the situation in Mon State at the central meeting of the Military Council’s Anti-Terrorism Committee, where the secret directive was leaked.
According to Colonel Kyaw Swar Myint, 510 anti-terrorist law offenders were revealed, 216 of them were taken into custody, and 416 cases were filed under this law.
In Mon State, 70 bridges and 116 communication towers have been destroyed by mines, and 105 people were killed and 282 others injured in the firefight, Colonel Kyaw Swar Myint said.
He claimed that there is a possibility of violence during preparations for the upcoming election in 2023, so the state council is looking into the carrying of weapons and PDFs as well as raising awareness among the people.
The military council has been arresting those who liked, commented on, and shared the posts of revolutionists on social media in Mon State.
Those arrested by the military council are being sentenced to long-term prison terms under Section 505 (a) of the Penal Code, Section 52(a) of the Counter-Terrorism Law, Section 124 (a) of the Penal Code, 33(a) of the Electronic Communications Act, and other existing laws.
