Junta soldiers burn down houses, grab valuables in Kyainseikgyi

The regime forces set fire to houses and took the valuables while they stormed the villages in Kyainseikgyi of KNU Brigade 6, the KNLA-affiliated Red Dragon column reported.

After the KNLA joint forces launched the offensive against the regime’s battalions in Kyainseikgyi on January 4, the regime troops invaded the villages in Kyainseikgyi, leading to clashes with KNLA joint forces.

According to the report, regime troops kidnapped over 30 people, including children, as human shields from January 12 to 16, while fatally shooting a man on a motorcycle.

Moreover, the junta troops ransacked and set ablaze the houses of the villages – Tadar-U, Thaminlit , Natchaung Ale, Kyowyne, Meelaungchaung and Kyakhat villages in Kyinseikgyi Township and stole the gold, cash, jewelry, phones, rice, and livestock, the Red Dragon column repoted.

In Brigade 6, Dooplayar District, fierce fighting was raging, and the KNU Brigade 6 advised people not to travel along the Kyainseikgyi-Phayar Thone Su route from January 16 to 23.

The conflict forced 16,000 residents from 20 villages to flee, according to data collected by Kyainseikgyi administration team.
