Majority of Mon residents take part in silent strike

Mawlamyine, February (2)

The majority of the people in Mon State participated in the silent strike against the military dictatorship on February 1, which marked the 2nd anniversary of the military coup that illegally seized state power by relying on armed forces.

On February 1, the second anniversary of the military, protests were held in various townships of Mon State under the slogan “in one voice, struggle in one round, silent strike”.

During the silent strike, almost all of Mon State’s markets were open, but there were few buyers, and the streets were nearly empty of pedestrians from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

A resident expressed his satisfaction that almost all the people participated in the silent strike and urged the people to continue the revolution against the military dictators in any way possible.

On the day of the silent strike, people stayed in their homes and shops and did not go out on the streets to protest against the military coup and the election to be held by the military council.

During the silent strike, regime troops patrolled around the towns and monitored the situation.

The country-wide protest in one voice, struggle in one round, and silent strike were observed in a number of townships, including Nay Pyi Taw, the headquarters of the military council.
