Junta troops torch Karen Gyi village in Launglon

Launglon, March (9)

The regime troops burned down Karen Gyi village in Tanintharyi Region’s Launglon Township in the early morning of March 8, the residents and PDFs told Than Lwin Times.

The military column of more than 60 troops had invaded the village of Karen Gyi since March 6 and set fire to the houses in the morning.

The junta’s arson attack initially destroyed at least five local homes, and the exact number of damaged homes is still unknown.

It is reported that the whole village of Karen Gyi is fleeing due to the advance of the regime forces.

The junta’s joint military column that burned Karen Gyi village is currently still in Karen Gyi, Kyauksin, Thabawtseik, and some parts of Maungmakan route, and they are expected to continue their invasion into the villages, claims a member of the Launglon PDF.

Thousands of villagers from five villages, including Karen Gyi, Thabawt Seik, Kyauksin, and Pyin Gyi, fled their homes as junta soldiers entered the villages.

Southern Monitor, an NGO, reported on March 4 that 435 local homes were burned down in Tanintharyi Region after the military coup.
