Tanintharyi, March (11)
The junta forces fired a mortar shell into Lethit village in Tanintharyi when there was no fighting, killing one child and injuring four others, the officials from Tanintharyi Allied Force told Than Lwin Times.
The junta force stationed at a monastery in Santhit village launched 11 mortar shells into east Lethit village around 8 am on March 10.
An eight-year-old child was killed, and four other people, including an elderly woman in her eighties, were injured when the shell burst in east Lethit hamlet.
At least two houses were destroyed by the shells fired by the military council, and over 200 villagers fled to safer areas.
On February 18, the junta base in Bawdhikam village fired a mortar shell, which landed in east Banlaw village, destroying five facilities including a school.
After the declaration of martial law, the military column invaded Tanintharyi Township and continued to fire heavy weapons into the villages, causing thousands of local residents to flee.
