145 Rohingya detained in Thanbyuzayat

The authorities arrested 145 Rohingya near a rubber farm in Win Sein village of Htinshu village tract in Mon State’s Thanbyuzayat Township on March 24, the locals told Than Lwin Times.

According to reports, while Rohingyas who came from Rakhine State were hiding in Thanbyuzayat township, they were arrested by the army, police, and administrative personnel searching for them.

Among the Rohingya who were arrested were 91 men and 54 women, and they were seeking to go to Malaysia from Mon State via Thailand, sources close to the military council said.

The Rohingya are reportedly being interrogated by the military council in a stadium near the soccer field in Thanbyuzayat.

Seven boatmen and a boat carrying the Rohingya were arrested by the junta’s navy around 1.5 nautical miles east of the Kyatthon Island lighthouse in Thanphyuzara Township, and they are now being interrogated.

On the 19th of February, 40 Rohingya, including children, were arrested in a nipa palm forest between Wekali and Kamar Oat villages in Mudong Township.

The military council has promised to bring back the Rohingya who are taking refuge in Bangladesh, but on the other hand, Rohingyas who are traveling in the country are being arrested continuously.
