Today, we will verify the news spread by pro-junta fake accounts, entitled “More than 200 PDF members arrested in Thailand’s Mae Sot”.
This fake news was spread by military lobbyists Han Nyein Oo and Hmine Wai on Telegram since
March 22.
The military supporters shared the news online with images saying “The most gratifying news is that more than 200 PDF members were apprehended in Mae Sot, Thailand,”
The Than Lwin Times looked into the post and photos, and found them to be misinformation.
In fact, Thai authorities raided four-story buildings where Myanmar citizens live, in the Mae Pa neighborhood of Mae Sot, Thailand, at around 1:00 p.m. on March 22 and arrested two young men, according to RFA.
The Thai authorities only arrested two young men, and no guns or bullets were found, so the junta lobbyists’ claim that more than 200 PDFs were arrested in Mae Sot, Thailand, is incorrect.
