Resistance forces ban people from using Myawaddy-Kawkayeik Asian Highway amid intense fighting

The Karen resistance forces has issued a joint warning to prevent civilians from traveling along the Myawaddy-Kawkayeik Asian Highway in Karen State starting April 7 amidst the intensity of the fighting.

Since March 25, fighting has been going on between the combined forces of junta and the allied Border Guard Force (BGF), and the Karen resistance forces along the Asian Highway, and since junta is suffering heavy losses, reinforcements, ammunition, and food supplies are being sent through the Asian Highway.

Therefore, the joint forces issued a warning on April 7 not to cross the Myawaddy-Kawkayeik Asian Highway from April 7 to 21.

The junta army is trying to invade with massive force in Mae Kane village in Myawaddy Township, and the military tension between the two sides continues.

Besides, all the local people in inner and outer Mae Kane villages are fleeing the junta’s artillery shelling and airstrikes.

Thousands of local people have fled to safety due to the fighting between the regime forces and the resistance forces that broke out in Thingan Nyi Naung, Mae Kane, Kawkayeik, and Kyondoe near Shwe Kokko new city in Myawaddy, Karen State.
