The junta’s Mawrawaddy navy shot and killed a local man in Zardi village, Yebyu town in Tanintharyi Region’s Dawei District, residents told Than Lwin Times.

On the evening of April 6, 27-year-old Ko Aung Ko was shot for no reason when he encountered three military vehicles from the Mawrawaddy Naval Station on his way home from a rubber farm near Zadi village.

After the shooting of Ko Aung with a gun by regime troops, the motorcycle and his body were loaded into a junta vehicle and driven to the military compound.

After that, on April 7, the family was informed to pick up Ko Aung Ko’s body. The family members took his body in an ambulance and cremated it at the Zadi village cemetery, residents said.

The deceased, Ko Aung Ko, was a rubber farm worker and left behind a four-year-old child and a pregnant wife.

According to research group, Southern Monitor, more than 400 civilians have been killed in Tanintharyi after the military coup.
