PPST to make an attempt to end Myanmar’s political issues at soonest

The Peace Process Steering Team (PPST) has announced that, it will engage in dialogue with political parties, including brothers – Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs), in order to put an end to the conflicts in Myanmar as soon as possible.

The announcement was made after a meeting of the PPST that have signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) held from April 20 to 21.

In a statement, PPST strongly urged all stakeholders who play a major role in the conflict to find a comprehensive solution to reduce and stop local violent conflicts as soon as possible, and resolve the political crisis.

The PPST said that it recognizes the efforts of the United Nations, international governments, the ASEAN Alternate Chairman, Indonesia, and the ASEAN Special Envoys, who are trying to resolve the political crisis in Myanmar, and will cooperate with them in accordance with the current political needs.

In addition, the PPST said in its statement that they oppose any kind of forceful attack that harms civilians, including the junta airstrike that killed and injured many civilians in Pazigyi village, Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region, on April 11.

Moreover, the PPST stated that it will stand firm on the principles of the three essences of the NCA : solving political problems through political means, holding meaningful political discussions involving all stakeholders, and protecting civilians, and will continue to strive to achieve sustainable peace and build a democratic federal union.
