The junta troops that invaded Thayet Chuang Township in Tanintharyi Region have been burning down one village after another, and shot and killed a displaced man, local residents told Than Lwin Times.
A military column of more than 100 troops entered Kanet Thiri and Net Seik villages in Thayet Chaung since June 9, firing heavy weapons.
Following that, the junta army arrested roughly 40 locals from two villages and used them as human shields before burning Kanet Thiri village.
The regime troops, which burned Kane Thiri village, entered Yange village again on the night of June 11, and shot and killed Ko Wayan Hein, a 23-year-old young man who returned to get medicine for his mother.
According to a local, the junta army set fire to Yange village on the morning of June 12, and the details of the situation are still unknown.
More than 4,000 residents of seven villages, including Yange, Kanet Thiri, Weyit and Theinkon, are reportedly fleeing because the regime troops are raiding village by village in Thayet Chaung.
In Tanintharyi Region, more than 34,000 local residents have been forced to flee the fighting and artillery shelling by the junta in May, according to a local research group.
