Residents of seven villages are fleeing the eastern Dawei due to artillery shelling and invasion by the regime forces, according to the resistance forces.
The military column of more than 100 troops has entered eastern Dawei since the morning of June 15, firing heavy weapons continuously.
The residents of eastern Dawei, including seven villages such as Pakaryi, Thingandon, Paket, Thayet Ngote, Yammarzu, and Leik Kye Pyaung, have been forced to flee their homes because of the invasion of junta forces.
There has been no fighting so far, but tension remains high between the two sides, an official of the allied resistance forces in Dawei told Than Lwin Times.
The frequent clashes between the junta army and the revolutionary forces in eastern region of Dawei caused more than half of the local population to permanently relocate to safe places and Dawei.
On May 31, the regime troops entered Thingandon village in eastern Dawei and set fire to at least six houses, according to the locals.
In Tanintharyi, more than 34,000 local residents were forced to flee the fighting between the two factions and junta artillery shelling in May, according to local research organizations.
