The chairman of the Karen National Union (KNU) said that it is necessary to work together with ethnic revolutionary organizations, democratic groups, and community-based organizations to end the military dictators’ roadmap and operations.
In a speech commemorating the 73rd Karen Martyr’s Day on August 12, Padoh Saw Kwe Htoo Win, chairman of the Karen National Union (KNU), added that the military regime uses Burmese chauvinism to build dictatorship and seek self-interest.
Padoh Saw Kwe Htoo Win added that the military dictators have seized the power of the country by force since February 1, 2021, and the public could not accept it at all, escalating to the point of conflict. The military regime is brutally using violent measures to crush dissent.
The junta launches offensives using heavy weapons, artillery, and fighter jets, but the people, including minorities, are not giving up and are going through daily hardships and worries.
According to the KNU chairman, the military regime is under pressure from all sides, sticks to chauvinism, and continues to commit repression against the people and minorities, exerting military rule and deceiving the public through various tactics.
Furthermore, KNU Chairman Padoh Saw Kwe Htoo Win said, “We must bring together the strength of all groups, place the fate of the junta army in the hands of the people, and strive forward until we are able to fulfill the aspirations of the people and minorities.
In a message sent to the 73rd Karen Martyrs’ Day commemoration, the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), an armed-wing of the Karen National Union (KNU), stated that they have to avoid the behavior against the people with the leaders and comrades of the Karen revolution, and continue to bear their unfinished historical responsibilities and stand firm on their roadmap.
