Two people gunned down, arrested for failing to stop motorbike in Paung

Two civilians who refused to stop motorbike were shot and arrested near toll gate in Kadonsi Ward, Paung Township, Mon State, on 18  August evening, two locals told Than Lwin Times.

On the same day, at roughly 3:00 p.m., junta troops and police opened fire on two civilians riding a motorcycle from Kywe Chan village to Paung Town for allegedly failing to pull over when they were inspecting passenger vehicles.

Two people, 37-year-old Ko San Min of Oak Tadar village and 19-year-old Saw Bo Bo Hein of Tathmu Chaung village, were injured by bullets, and their motorcycle overturned during the shooting.

Ko San Min received a gunshot in the left thigh and bruises over his body, while Saw Bo Bo Hein was shot in the left thigh and right leg.

After the military council gave medical treatment to two injured residents at the Paung Township Public Hospital, they were detained at the Paung Police Station and are being interrogated.

On the same night, Maung Khit Oo Zan, the son of U Ye Htut from Kyonkadak village in Thanbyuzayte Township, was injured in an explosion while playing with an Enagar bomb.

The child who was injured in the blast was taken to Thanpyuzayet Hospital, and the child’s parents are being examined by the police, said the locals.
