The father of Ko Min Lwin Oo, a strike leader from Dawei District, Tanintharyi Region, who was arrested as a hostage by the military council, was sentenced to two years in prison under Section 505(a).
On 19June, the regime troops came in search of strike leader Min Lwin Oo, and when they did
not find him, they beat and arrested his father, U Aung Pe.
The military council filed a case against Ko Min Lwin Oo’s father, U Aung Pe, under Section 505(a) of the Penal Code, and on August 23, the Launglon Township Court sentenced him to two years in prison.
The military council sentenced Ko Min Lwin Oo’s father to prison on the grounds that they found an armband and a shirt with the Students’ Union logo at his home.
Regarding the military council’s imprisonment of the father, who had not committed any crime, Ko Min Lwin Oo said that it shows that the entire judicial system no longer has legal standards.
When the regime forces came to arrest Ko Min Lwin Oo’s father as a hostage, they forcibly took
two mobile phones, K 800,000 from his home.
The junta has issued a warrant for Ko Min Lwin Oo, who is conducting non-violent activities against the military dictatorship in Dawei District on charges of sedition and announced that a reward of 30 million Kyats will be offered to those who arrest him.
