Five locals injured by artillery shells in Ye

Five civilians, including four women, were injured when artillery shells exploded in Kyaung Ywar village in Ye Township, Mon State, locals told Than Lwin Times.

On 12 September, about 3:00 p.m., the Light Infantry Battalion 591 based in Kyaung Ywar was attacked with mortar shells by the allied revolutionary forces.

The shells fired by the resistance forces exploded in Kyaung Ywar village and near the junta camp.

Four middle-aged women, including Daw Khin Than Oo, Daw Kyi Win, and 59-year-old U Chit Aung, were injured by shrapnel in their heads, arms, and hips in the explosion.

According to reports, two women with head injuries were rushed to Ye Hospital for treatment.

After the incident, the regime troops launched heavy weapons into some villages outside and around Kyaung Ywar village, said locals.

Civilians are often injured or killed during the exchange of fire between the armed forces in Ye Township of Mon State, where martial law has been declared since the military coup.
