More than 1,000 residents have fled their homes as regime troops entered the eastern part of Tanintharyi Region’s Palaw Township, where martial law has been declared, according to the displaced people.

Starting on October 4, nearly 200-strong regime forces split into two columns and marched from the villages of Ginga, Hmaw Mi, and Migyaung Thike villages to the eastern part of Palaw Township.

The junta column entered the villages of Nan Taung, Gingar, Hmaw Mi, Kyaung Nei, Painne Taung, Durinpin Shaung, Palaw Gon and Mikyaung Thike while shelling mortar shells, forcing the local residents to flee.

Explosions were heard near Ginga village when the junta army approached, and the details of the situation are still unknown.

On September 28, military column and junta posts were attacked in the villages of Nan Payoke, Chauk Mile and Hmyit Chin Su in Pulau Township, killing five regime forces.

According to local research organizations, at least 50 clashes broke out between the junta army and the allied resistance forces in Tanintharyi in September.
