Railway services between Mawlamyine and Yangon have been temporarily suspended since October 9 due to heavy flooding in Bago City, Bago Region, according to Mawlamyine station officials.
Bago has been flooded, and the railway has overflowed since October 8 as a result of heavy rainfall and unleashed water from the dam.
The floods caused the temporary cancellation of the No. 82-down Mawlamyine-Yangon train and the No. 81-up Yangon-Malamyine train.
An official at Mawlamyine Station said that passengers can get a refund for the tickets they bought at Mawlamyine Station between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m.
Although the Mawlamyine-Yangon trips have been temporarily halted, officials have stated that they will announce the day when they will resume.
According to travelers, the road between Phayar Gyi crossroads and the Baw Nat Gyi Expressway 39-mile toll gate along the Yangon-Mawlamyine Highway is currently inundated, hindering small vehicles from passing through.
According to the social relief teams, more than 10,000 people have been urgently evacuated as a result of the flooding in Bago, and rescue operations are still underway.
