AA leader warns merchants against increasing commodity prices

Rakhine, 14 November

Major General Tun Mrat Naing has warned that action will be taken against those who raise commodity prices after the AA launched attacks on military camps in Rakhine State.

Starting on 13 November morning, the Arkan Army started to attack the border guard stations of Mayu Kang, Done Pike and Changkhali in the southwest of Rathedaung Township.

“New lesson will be introduced for those selling goods at high price.” Major General Tun Mrat Naing wrote on his Facebook page, without mentioning the details for action.

Locals are fleeing from armed clashes in their areas, and are also buying basic food items with fears of escalation of conflicts, residents told Than Lwin Times.

Moreover, the state military council has issued a martial law order in Sittwe, and prohibited   people from going  outside starting at 9 p.m on 13 November.

Locals said that the military council has also blocked waterways and roads in Rakhine state due to the ongoing fighting in Rathedaung and Minbya townships.

Than Lwin Times contacted Arkan Army Spokesperson Khaing Thukha and Army Spokesperson Major General Zaw Min Tun for the updated situations in Rakhine State, but it was unable contact them.
