After losing many bases and outposts, the junta army stated that it would strategically counter resistance forces’ drone operations.
Junta spokesman Major General Zaw Min Tun admitted in a propaganda newspaper on November 16 that many military bases have been lost in the drone operations of the Three Brotherhood Alliance, and some bases had to be merged according to military strategy.
He claimed that drones had been targeting military bases and that it would be prevented immediately and effectively.
Capt. Kaung Thu Win, who have joined told Than Lwin Times, “The military has no long-term preparation or plan to defend against drones, and it has only recently been able to install drone defense systems in critical areas.”
The military council has placed drone defense systems only in important offices at commands, houses where senior officers live, weapons factories, and hangars, and many battalion units have not installed them.
“Because the military council cannot send high-tech drones to the frontline camps, I don’t think they can attack effectively with this system,” Captain Kaung Thu Win noted.
The use of drones by revolutionary forces has become a future challenge for the military, Interior Minister Lt. Gen. Yar Pyae admitted on August 21 at the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Combating Transnational Crime in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia.
Ko Nyein, who is in charge of the Cloud Wings drone team, told Than Lwin Times, ” military bases, administrative targets, artillery units, and airfields can be targeted in carrying out drone operations.”
According to a secret report of the military council that leaked in 2022, the military leader warned to be careful about the drone operation of the revolutionary forces and that if there was a lack of security, they could face a terrible operation.
The Ministry of Defense of the National Unity Government (NUG) announced on August 23 that they are providing revolutionary funds to the resistance forces from various regions and states for intelligence, combat, and propaganda, as well as more than 400 drones.
On the other hand, the military council, like NUG, announced in May that it will reward PDF soldiers who surrender, including an incentive of up to 50 lakhs if they bring a drone.
