A former Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) candidate was shot dead near a banyan tree on the ring road at Painne ward in Tanintharyi Region’s Dawei Township, the locals told Than Lwin Times.
U Min Htwe, a former candidate for the USDP Party, was gunned down by the Dawei Urban Guerrilla Force in his car.
It is reported that U Min Htwe received at least 10 gunshot wounds to his body and hands and died on the spot.
An official of the Dawei Urban Guerrilla Force said that U Min Htwe was executed because he backed the regime troops and Pyu Saw Htee militia, and was an armed person as Pyu Saw Htee leader.
In addition, U Min Htwe reported to the military council about street protests and revolutionary comrades, and he also threatened the people and illegally grabbed and sold plots of land.
The body of deceased U Min Htwe was returned to his hometown of Zeetaw village, Thayatchaung Township, by a local social rescue team.
In the 2020 general election, U Min Htwe of the USDP ran as a regional representative for Thayatchaung Township but was soundly defeated.
