On June 17 and 19, a 50-member military column advanced towards Banlaw and Thamee Hla villages in Tanintharyi Township, triggering at least ten clashes.
At least three soldiers, including a military officer and a combat paramedic, were reportedly killed in the battle, and a comrade from the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) sustained minor injuries.
Meanwhile, three civilians were injured by junta artillery shelling, three homes were damaged, including a pagoda, and the revolutionary force seized some ammunition from the junta army.
The regime troops retreated from Banlaw to Tanintharyi on the morning of June 20, according to the revolutionary forces.
The fighting has forced more than 3,000 residents from 11 villages, including Nyaung Pin Kwin, Banlaw, and Thamee Hla, to flee to safety, and some returned home yesterday.
