Military convoy marching into Kyaikto attacked, killing 10 soldiers

Kyaikto, April (26)

On the morning of April 25, a KNLA coalition intercepted a convoy of junta forces marching into Kyaikto near upper-Ingabo village, Kyaikto Township, Mon State, killing at least ten soldiers.

The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and the PDF joint forces launched an intercepting attack while the military council’s convoy entering the KNLA Brigade 1’s Battalion 3 from Kyaikto took a rest.

The fights lasted about an hour, with ten members of the military council slain and several others injured, according to Pado Saw Soe Myint, chairman of the KNU Brigade 1 Thaton District.

“When the military vehicles arrived, we launched an attack. There were about 10 military personnel slain. The injured were taken away in cars,” he said.

Due to massive casualties on the battlefield, the military council convoy is said to have retreated.

Locals stated the military council brought the injured and deceased to Kyaikto and Theinphyu Zayat hospitals after the battles.

After the military coup, regime forces were attacked repeatedly in Kyaikto Township, which is controlled by KNU Brigade 1, resulting in severe losses.
