Kyaikto, July (17)

The 10 military personnel were killed in a landmine attack near Daungtaugn Kyaikhteeyoe Lay crossroad in Ingabo village of Mon State’s Kyaikto Township.

Last July 15, the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) planted landmines and attacked a military convoy of five vehicles heading to Kyaikto Township from Bago Region’s War Township.

During that attack, a military vehicle was damaged, 10 soldiers were killed, and at least 15 others were injured, according to the Thaton PDF’s 3rd Battalion.

After the explosion, the two sides exchanged fire for nearly 15 minutes, and the KNLA joint team was able to successfully withdraw without any casualties.

After being attacked by landmines, the Military Council convoy stopped at the No.2 Infantry Division in Bikekar village for an hour, Kyaikto Township, and continued towards Belin Township.

There is ongoing tension between the junta army and the KNLA joint forces in Kyaikto Township.
