Military convoy hits landmines twice in single day in Kyaikto

A military convoy hit the landmines twice on August 24 on the Yangon-Mawlamyine Road near Moppalin village in Mon State’s Kyaikto Township, a PDF official told Than Lwin Times.

A three-vehicle military convoy heading to Kyaikto from Sittaugn was attacked with landmines planted by the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and Kyaikto Revolutionary Force (KRF) at around 7 am on August 24.

Similarly, on August 24, around 8 am, an 11-vehicle military convoy traveling from Kyaikto to Sittaung was attacked again near Moppalin village.

The attack hit two vehicles and damaged the windshield and some parts of the car’s body, and whether there were any casualties is under investigation.

The military convoys were frequently attacked near Kyaikto, Moppalin, Ingabo and Latpanpin villages on the Yangon-Mawlmyine Road.

The KNU announced that 13 junta soldiers were killed and at least five others were injured when a KNLA joint force attacked the regime forces who were preparing to set up a camp near Ingabo village, Kyaikto Township, on the 19th of August.
