Kyaikto, June (8)

Military convoy struck landmines near Ingabo village in Mon State’s Kyaikto Township on the morning of June 7, according to the 3rd Battalion of Thaton People’s Defense Force.

The 3rd Battalion of Thaton PDF attacked a convoy of ten vehicles leaving Bago Region’s Waw Township to Kyaikto Township.

At least 10 junta soldiers were reportedly killed and 15 others wounded in the explosion, said the statement.

The military troops resisted following the blast, but the PDF members were able to retreat without any casualties.

The Karen National Union (KNU) officials were not available for comment on the landmine attack when Than Lwin Times attempted to contact them.

The military convoys were frequently attacked in KNU-controlled Kyaikto, resulting in high deaths on the junta’s side.
