More than 170 Myanmar women killed in military coup

More than 170 women were killed during an effort by the military commanded by Min Aung Hlaing to seize power, according to the Burmese Women’s Union (BWU).

The situation of women participating in the Spring Revolution from February 1, 2021 to April 2022 was presented based on data collected by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP)
and the Burmese Women’s Union(BWU).



Those who had been shot and taken hostage by junta troops were among the deceased.

A total of 2,055 women were detained according to the BWU list, of which 153 were convicted and 29 were sentenced to the maximum sentences of death, life imprisonment, and more than 10 years in prison.

These lists are compiled by AAPP and BWU, and there are still several that are being investigated and are out of reach.
