Junta’s mortar shelling destroys homes in Dawei

Some houses were damaged due to mortar shelling by the regime troops marching along the Dawei-Htee Khee road in Dawei Township, Tanintharyi Region, members of PDF told Than Lwin Times.

On August 26, the PDFs ambushed a military unit of 300 troops near Thaingantone and Wakone villages.

After the attack, the junta’s indiscriminate shooting left at least five houses destroyed.

At least two junta soldiers might have been killed in the battle that lasted for nearly 20 minutes, a PDF said.

Locals were fleeing in advance as the regime troops advanced along Dawei – Htee-Khee road.

Tanintharyi regional command warned the people not to travel or leave their houses due to the presence of military forces, and if necessary, to evacuate in advance.

It is reported that the military troops are moving towards Metta village through Taungthonelone village, along with food transport vehicles.

In Tanintharyi Region, nearly 10,000 residents have fled the conflict between the military council and local resistance forces since the coup.
