The appeal of Dr. Aye Zan, the Chief Minister of Mon State, who was given a two-year prison sentence for abusing his power and authority, will be decided in the subsequent trial, according to sources close to the court.
Dr. Aye Zan was sentenced to two years in prison last July after being charged with violating Section 130(a) of the Penal Code for abusing authority during the most recent general election.
The legal team of Chief Minister Dr. Aye Zan appealed the case to the Mawlamyine District Court.
According to sources close to the court, the appeal of Prime Minister Dr. Aye Zan was heard at the trial on October 7, and a decision will be made at the following trial.
Chief Minister Dr. Aye Zan, on the other hand, is being sued for the second time by the junta for abuse of electoral power in two cases under Section 171(f) of the Penal Code.
Mon State Chief Minister Dr. Aye Zan was sentenced to 25 years in prison: 21 years for nine counts of corruption, two years under section 505 (a) and another two years under section 130 (a).
Dr. Aye Zan is now in good health while being held by the military council in Kyaikmaraw Central Prison.
