Mon Chief Minister Dr. Aye Zan appears in court for election case

On October 28, Dr. Aye Zan, the Chief Minister of Mon State, who was charged with abuse of power in election, was examined at the trial, according to source close to the matter.

The Military Council filed two cases under Section 171(f) of the Penal Code against Chief Minister Dr. Aye Zan for abusing his power in the 2020 general election.

At this trial, Chief Minister Dr. Aye Zan was interrogated regarding the documents submitted by the Military Council.

However, Dr. Aye Zan testified that the documents submitted by the Military Council came from the Mon State’s regime office, but he did not know anything about it.

Prime Minister Dr. Aye Zan has testified that he is not guilty of the abuse of electoral power brought against him by the Military Council, but the Military Council is summoning witnesses again.

Mos State Chief Minister Dr. Aye Zan’s case was filed by Mawlamyine District Sub-Election Commission Secretary U Htin Kyaw as the plaintiff.

The military regime has currently sentenced the 68-year-old Chief Minister, Dr. Aye Zan, to 25 years in prison for 11 counts, and he is being held at the Kyaikmaraw Central Prison.
