PDF camp relinquished in Palaw battle

Palaw, Febrary (17)

After a fierce battle between the junta troops and the PDF joint forces near Kade village in Tanintharyi Region’s Palaw Township, the People’s Defense Forces were forced to withdraw from the camp, the information official of Myeik District’s Battalion 1 told Than Lwin Times.

On February 15, the allied PDFs fought with a military column of 200 troops who entered Thingandone and Kade villages in Palaw Township in full strength.

The joint PDF forces in Kade village relinquished an outpost and were able to retreat unharmed since the regime troops were outnumbered in that engagement.

After the battle, the junta troops raided the deserted village of Kade and burned down the local houses. As of the afternoon of February 16, at least five houses had been destroyed by fire.

According to Telegram accounts supporting the junta, many PDF soldiers were killed in the Palaw battle; three cars, weapons, and ammunition were also confiscated; and 13 departmental staff and civilians were rescued.

Myeik District Battalion 1’s information officer denied the military council’s accusation that the PDF arrested people.

After the military council declared martial law in Palaw Township of Tanintharyi Region on February 2, and launched a massive offensive, at least 10 battles have occurred since then.
