More than 750 homes and buildings have been sealed off between February 1, 2021, when the military seized power in a coup, and March 31, this year, according to a report of the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) on April 25.
According to the statement, the military council has seized at least 751 sizable properties, including residences and buildings, primarily targeting pro-democracy activists.
The assets seized belonged to 636 pro-democracy activists and civilians, including 300 members of parliament, members of the National League for Democracy (NLD), and party supporters.
According to the AAPP, the military regime intends to arrest property owners who supported the pro-democracy movement and makes a series of arrests.
According to AAPP’s statement, 47 percent of the assets seized by the military council belonged to individuals associated with the National League for Democracy (NLD).
The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP) estimates that more than 3,000 people were killed and about 20,000 people were detained following the military coup in Myanmar.
