The military council sealed off a business’s assets and property in Kama Chaung village in Tanintharyi Region’s Bokepyin Township, locals told Than Lwin Times.
On May 5, administrative officials, police, and regime forces sealed off the gas station, home, grocery store, and land owned by local businessman U Aung Zaw Oo.
After the property of U Aung Zaw Oo, a local businessman, was sealed off, the military council ordered his family members to move out of the house as soon as possible.
After the businessman U Aung Zaw Oo was arrested in early April on charges of financing PDFs, he was charged under Section 50(j) of the Anti-Terrorism Act, and his assets were seized.
U Aung Zaw Oo is currently still in custody at the Bokepyin police station, and the military council is attempting to add more charges against him.
Locals claim that U Aung Zaw Oo organized a campaign for the National League for Democracy (NLD) party in the general election of 2020 and that following the military takeover, he just kept on running his business.
After the military coup, at least 800 homes, buildings, and assets belonging to democracy activists and civilians nationwide have been sealed off until the end of March since the military coup, according to the Association for the Assistance and Care of the Politically Impoverished (AAPP).
