Military lobbyists spread misinformation about PDFs providing security as extortioners

Real vs. Fake News

Mingalabar! Welcome to Than Lwin Times’ Real vs. Fake News program.

This program verifies fake news and misinformation about revolutionary incidents circulation on social media following the military coup.

Today, we will be checking the content of the photo saying, “PDFs are threatening travelers with weapons and asking for money on the Mawlamyin-Ye-Dawei highway”.

This content was disseminated via the fake Telegram accounts of Khin Nyo Chaw, Ba Than, and Han Nyein Oo.

The Than Lwin Times looked into the post and found it to be misinformation, hiding the truth of the incident.

In fact, the female comrades from Taung Nyo Column – P29906 are checking the vehicles passing on Mawlamyin-Ye-Dawei No. 8 Union Road.

As the vehicles of the military council were disguised as civilian cars and carrying weapons, the People’s Defense Forces, including female comrades from the Taung Nyo Column, were inspecting the passing vehicles for public safety, according to Taung Nyo Column – P29906 and independent media.
