Attack on Belin checkpoint injures three including two policemen

Belin, 25 August

Three persons, including two policemen, were injured in an attack on a junta checkpoint near the old Shwe Than Lwin toll gate on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway in Dauk Yet village, in Mon State’s Belin Township, locals told Than Lwin Times.

A joint force of the Karen National Liberation Army and People’s Defense Forces  dropped three drone bombs on the junta checkpoint around 7:30 a.m. on 24 August.

One of the bombs exploded near the checkpoint.

The explosion injured two policemen and one civilian, who were taken to Belin Hospital.

After being attacked by a drone, the junta army opened fire in the direction of the drone with heavy weapons and small arms.

The attack on the checkpoint caused hundreds of vehicles to get stuck in traffic jams on the Mawlamyine-Yangon highway, and the road was reopened at around 10 a.m., travelers said.

The Karen National Union and the allied resistance forces have not yet released any statements regarding the Belin checkpoint attack.
