Three comrades from KNLA/PDF lost lives in Belin battle

Belin, 5 September

Three members of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) were killed in a battle between Alu Lay and Thabye Ni villages in Mon State’s Belin Township, according to resistance forces.

When the KNLA joint forces were on their way to launch an operation, they engaged with the regime troops that were laying in ambush around 8 pm on 4 September.

The junta army gained the upper hand during the nearly 30-minute skirmish, said a source from a ground revolutionary force.

The battle claimed three comrades from KNLA joint forces, and some weapons were confiscated, and junta casualties were not yet known.

The fighting has caused all the residents of Alu Lay and Thabye Ni villages to flee, and most of them are taking refuge in safe villages and urban areas.

Tension remains tense between the two sides, and more fighting may occur, said sources from allied resistance forces.

Fighting has resumed in the opposition stronghold of Belin since last month between regime forces and KNLA fighters.
