Paung, 12 September
Following the death of a surveillance police officer, the military council has arrested and is investigating at least 15 local inhabitants of Ottan Tar Village in Mon State’s Paung Township, locals told Than Lwin Times.
On September 3, policeman Ko Ko Lwin was returning on motorcycle to the Paung Police Station in Moe Nai Ward when he was shot and killed by revolutionary forces on the Mawlamyine-Yangon road.
After that incident, the junta unit of nearly 100 troops entered Ottan Tar village and arrested the residents starting on 6 September 6.
Among those arrested are eight women, including pregnant woman Daw Khin Myint, and seven men.
People close to the military council said that the arrested locals were detained at the Zin Kyaik police station, and some of the men were taken to an interrogation center.
Currently, the junta column is patrolling around Yin Nyein, Zin Kyaik, Ottantar villages, and the neighborhoods of Paung Township, and is conducting random interrogations during the day, according to the locals.
In Paung Township, police officers were shot dead in late August and early September, and Paung Police Station, Yin Nyein police outpost, and the Township General Administration Department were attacked by drones.
