Junta army burns more than 20 motorcycles in Launglon, threatening further potential protests

 Launglon, 25 November

The regime troops burned down the motorbikes and fishermen’s huts of the locals in the raid on Thabyay Shaugn village in Tanintharyi Region’s Launglon Tonwship, said Launglon People’s Administration on 24 November.

The 70-strong regime troops entered Thabyay Shaung village from Dawei River route around 11 a.m. on 23 November.

The regime forces arrested and inspected the residents of Thabyay Shaung and torched 21 motorcycles, said Ko Hein Htet, the spokesperson of Launglon People’s Administration.

As civilians fled for safety, soldiers reportedly ransacked homes and shops and stole valuables.

At around 8:00 p.m., the junta army also set fire to 18 fishermen’s huts in Thbyay Shaung village, near the Dawei River.

The military council troops, who burned motorcycles and fishermen’s huts, wrote threatening messages on the walls of homes and businesses, saying, “If you encourage the PDFs and stage more protests, it will be worse than this.”

After burning down the houses, the junta army left for Kyauk Ni Maw village, the stronghold of pro-junta militia group Pyu Saw Htee, around 10:00 p.m.

More than 1,000 residents who fled when the regime troops entered the village returned to the village on the morning of November 24.

On March 20, the junta column entered Thabyay Shaung village and burned more than 20 fishermen’s huts for no reason.
