Tanintharyi, May (19)
Five regime troops were reportedly killed and three others injured as they moved on foot near No. 433 Bridge, between Banlamut and Nyaungpinkon villages in Tanintharyi, said the information team of the local resistance force of Tanintharyi.
On the morning of May 17, the junta infantry column of 80 troops that marched from Myeik to Tanintharyi was hit by two landmines planted by the local People’s Defense Force.
The troops heading to banlamut village were from the artillery unit, and once the advance troops were hit by mines, they started to open fire, but the resistance forces did not respond to it, a comrade told Than Lwin Times.
It is reported that after the attack, the soldiers who were injured or killed were taken to Myeik in civilian vehicles by the junta.
The regime troops are now stationed near the place where the mine attack took place and have not yet moved forward or retreated.
On May 7, a vehicle carrying junta troops was hit by a mine on the Myeik-Maungtaw route near Latha village in Tanintharyi Township, injuring five military personnel.
